Just a Walk in the Park

One of the things we enjoy most about house trading is being able to settle in a place long enough to get a feel for living there.  So that means we have the time to just kick back some days and do what we would be doing at home.

We had the past two days, sandwiched between our two within-Chile trips, and used them to relax and do mundane things like laundry, grocery shopping, blog posts, reading, etc.  At home I often enjoy a walk around the Pleasanton Sports Park, so figured I would do my park walk here around the neighborhood park, the large Parque Bicentenario which Mayra referred to as "our Central Park." The Vitacura neighborhood is in the northeast part of Santiago, and reminds us of the upper east side of NYC, so fitting that she described it in this way.  I felt very safe as I ventured off, alone, on my walk. Tuesday was a warm and sunny day - hard to believe it is the middle of winter!

This is the front of the building where we are staying.

The streets are tree-lined, and have both condo buildings and detached homes behind gates.  There are  many embassies and ambassador's residences in the area as well.
The park was just a 10 minute walk from the condo.

And even some California poppies to make me feel at home.

This morning (Thursday) we are off to the high desert in the north, San Pedro de Atacama.
